This Roadside Tyre Change Safe Operating Procedure (SOP) provides a way for your business to outline step-by-step safe processes when conducting a roadside tyre change.
- Provides instructions on the use of the equipment both prior to and during operation.

Procedure
- Remove the hubcap.
- Using the wheel brace, loosen the wheel nuts but do not remove them.
- Place the jack under the car in the approved jacking location (see vehicle operating manual)
- Raise the vehicle until the wheel is approximately 100mm off the ground
- Ensure the vehicle remains stable. Do not put any part of your body under the vehicle!
- Unscrew the wheel nuts completely and remove.
- Remove the flat tyre by pulling towards you
- Place the flat tyre under the vehicle as a secondary safety precaution until the new tyre is fitted
- Retrieve spare wheel and place in front of wheel hub
- Align the spare with the wheel bolts. Lift and push into place
- Replace wheel nuts and tighten as much as possible by hand in a star pattern
- Lower the vehicle and remove Jack
- Tighten wheel nuts fully
