A New Zealand business has assured WorkSafe it will comply with the COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic light system) after concerns were raised with the safety watchdog. WorkSafe New Zealand is thanking businesses that engage constructively when compliance gaps surface, rather than resisting guidance.

The business was accused of allowing unvaccinated individuals to attend some of its events. Such situations carry real risk for workers, patrons and the wider public, so WorkSafe stepped in early to manage exposure before it escalated.

"The business now understands they fall under event rules and have reassured WorkSafe that they'll work within these requirements," a spokesperson said.

"This is another example of many we have in the past eight weeks where a business isn't wilfully trying to break the rules — they just don't have a full understanding of them, and we've stepped in and helped guide them to where they need to be."
