WorkSafe calls on workplaces to engage in Health and Safety Month webinars

Employers and employees across Victoria are encouraged to take part in the annual Health and Safety Month webinar series hosted by WorkSafe Victoria, which attracts over 20,000 participants.

As the regulator concludes its yearly roadshow this week, a set of 12 free online information sessions will facilitate discussions on workplace safety from 27 to 31 October.

What’s on offer during Health and Safety Month

  • Twelve no-cost webinars delivered across five consecutive days
  • Expert-led talks covering emerging hazards and safe work systems
  • Briefings on new duties for managing mental wellbeing at work
  • Practical activities and open discussion for employers, workers and elected safety representatives

Led by industry specialists, the webinars provide a platform to explore the latest health and safety trends and issues, including upcoming psychological health laws that are set to be implemented later this year.

WorkSafe Chief Health and Safety Officer Sam Jenkin remarked that the sessions aim to respond to industry trends, concentrating on the adaptation to innovations and future challenges.

“The strong response we’ve had through early registrations shows there’s great interest from Victorian employers and workers who understand there is always more that can be done to improve health and safety in workplaces,” he said.

Why this webinar event matters for safety professionals

Psychosocial hazards remain a national priority under the model WHS laws overseen by Safe Work Australia, so an event of this kind gives duty holders a low-cost path to engage with current regulatory thinking.

Similar month-long campaigns run interstate. Read how NT WorkSafe urges workplaces to join safety month activities, and see why Tasmanians are directing their focus towards workplace health and safety during WorkSafe Month.

Turning session takeaways into documented systems

Teams that want to convert webinar learnings into written procedures can review our health and safety manual templates, which align with model WHS legislation and support safe work practices on site.
