Work-related fatalities rise over previous year, Safe Work Australia figures show

Latest Safe Work Australia data shows 52 Australian workers have been killed at work so far this year, eight more than at the same time last year.

Transport, postal & warehousing industry leads with 24 fatalities, Agriculture, forestry & fishing has seen 12 fatalities, while Public administration & safety and other services each having four fatalities.

The construction industry has recorded three fatalities: electricitygas, water & waste services - two fatalities and Manufacturing has seen one fatality.

As of this time last year, the Transport, postal & warehousing industry had recorded 15 fatalities, while Agriculture, forestry & fishing had nine fatalities.
