Worker airlifted from cruise ship east of Newcastle

A worker has been flown to hospital after he was winched off a cruise ship east of Newcastle.

The man was working on board the cruise ship when he reportedly became unwell on Saturday morning.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked at around 1.30am.

The medical team was lowered onto the ship to treat the man, aged in his 30s.

He was later airlifted to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
