Safety Heroes 2022 teaches Queensland kids about electrical safety during floods

A record number of primary schools in Queensland are taking part in this year’s Ergon Energy’s Safety Heroes program as part of Electrical Safety Week.

Launched in 2015, the Safety Heroes program teaches children how electricity works and how to stay safe around it.

Queensland’s Energy Minister Mick de Brenni said, “I’m confident in our Queensland students that these lessons stay with them for life and help save lives.”

“The program also provides a great opportunity for local kids to get an insight into the great career opportunities on offer in their publicly-owned energy system,” Mr de Brenni said.

Ergon Energy’s Executive General Manager Services Karen Stafford said this year’s program will focus more on flood safety.

“Floods earlier this year highlighted the importance of arming people of all ages with electrical safety tips.”
