Safety alert issued following collision between front-end loader and grader at NSW mine site

The NSW Resources Regulator reports that a front-end loader and a grader were recently involved in a collision at a mine site during a morning shift.
According to the Resources regulator, the incident took place when the operator of the front-end loader elevated his bucket to shield his eyesight from the ascending sun, thereby proceeding with restricted visibility.
“The front-end loader subsequently collided with a grader driving in the opposite direction,” said the regulator. “The collision resulted in the grader’s cabin being destroyed.”
The grader operator experienced a minor cut on the leg and some bruising, and was subsequently taken to the hospital for a routine check-up.
The regulator said the incident serves as a reminder that seemingly ordinary tasks can turn risky when visibility is limited and established procedures are disregarded.
