Resources Regulator issues caution regarding near-miss incidents

The NSW Resources regulator has observed a significant increase in the frequency of incidents involving equipment overtaking or passing on the wrong side of the road within mining zones.

Each near miss identified by the regulator put the involved workers at serious risk.

“Both the Regulator and the mine operators investigated the reported incidents and near misses,” the resources regulator said.

“Investigations suggest these incidents were preventable if site procedures were followed, or if a thorough job hazard analysis (JHA) was completed and the identified controls were applied.”
