NT workplace safety inspectors to use body worn cameras

NT WorkSafe inspectors have incorporated body worn cameras (BWC) into their operational equipment after a successful trial last year.

WorkSafe says the Body-Worn Camera (BWC) is a device that inspectors wear when visiting workplaces to help with compliance checks and workplace incident investigations.

The Acting Executive Director of NT WorkSafe stated that the choice to integrate BWC into the safety regulator’s continuous operations was made after a thorough assessment of its effectiveness and efficiency throughout the trial phase.

“With the use of the BWC, our inspectors are able to collect information and evidence which enable them to review encounters and resolve enquiries more quickly,” Ms Rigas said.
