NSW farms reminded to make quad bike safety a top priority
SafeWork NSW is calling on farms to implement strict safety measures for quad bike usage following an incident in which a man sustained injuries, resulting in a fine for the business due to its negligence in fulfilling workplace safety obligations.
The business admitted fault and was ordered to pay $195,000 in addition to legal fees, following an incident in June 2021 where a 42-year-old farm worker sustained pelvic and back injuries from a quad bike crash while carrying out a backburn at a vineyard in Central West NSW.
The company faced charges for two violations: one regarding safety lapses at the premises and another for not discussing work and risks with the labour supplier.
