Australians encouraged to participate in a Workers’ Memorial Day event this year

Safe Work Australia calls upon workers and employers to reflect on the importance of attending a Workers’ Memorial Day service or event this year.

International Workers' Memorial Day, celebrated on April 28, is a significant time to reflect on the lives lost due to workplace injuries, illnesses, or diseases, and to strengthen our resolve to eliminate workplace fatalities.

Data from Safe Work Australia indicates that approximately 200 people perish annually as a result of workplace incidents, with many others succumbing to work-related illnesses.

“Standing with others in your local community is a powerful reminder that behind every statistic is a person, a family, work colleagues and a community and that every workplace death is one too many,” says Safe Work Australia.
