WorkSafe urges workplaces to implement proper safety measures when conducting work in remote areas

WorkSafe reminds employers and employees to carefully consider all the necessary safety precautions when working in remote areas.

Workers who frequently visit remote areas in Western Australia include miners, truck drivers, tour guides, farmers and geologists.

Acting WorkSafe Commissioner Sally North reminded workplaces that they have a responsibility under WHS regulations to provide a safe work environment for remote workers.

“While anyone who travels to the outback needs to consider safety when deciding what to take with them, we would particularly like to remind both employers and workers that they have responsibilities under workplace health and safety laws,” Ms North said.
