WorkSafe New Zealand opens consultation on draft ACOPs for the agricultural industry

WorkSafe New Zealand is inviting comments and insights on the draft material for two officially approved codes of practice (ACOP) for the agricultural sector.
ACOPs are an established and practical approach for both businesses and employees to fulfill the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its regulations.
“Both drafts have been developed with the sector, so they reflect how farms actually operate day to day,” WorkSafe chief executive, Sharon Thompson said.
“However, these are very much working drafts. We want farmers and others in the sector to tell us what makes sense to them, what doesn’t, and what needs to be clearer, particularly when it comes to real-life situations on farms.”
WorkSafe urges anyone with an interest in agriculture to examine the draft ACOPs and share their comments on its website.
