Worker killed after plunging 20 metres in wind turbine collapse north of Mackay

A worker died after plummeting 20 metres from a wind tower in central Queensland on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services, including a helicopter crew, responded to the incident at a property in Lake Proserpine on the Whitsunday Coast at about 12:40pm.

Paramedics said the man, aged in his 30s, suffered a fall during the collapse of a tower on a Station Road property.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland is conducting an investigation into the cause of the incident.
