WorkSafe said the report ‘provides a valuable insight into the types and causes of work-related traumatic injury fatalities within the industry.’

The report shows tractors and quad bikes are the leading cause of deaths, with 9 fatalities. Other fatalities occurred as a result of being hit by a moving object, being trapped by machinery, falling from height and insect bites.

The majority of agricultural sector deaths were male. The industry lost 17 male workers and 1 female worker.
