WA transport company fined for fatigue breaches
A transport service company has been convicted on 24 charges under WA's fatigue management laws, fined $89,000 and ordered to pay $6,807 in costs.
The company was fined $80,000 after pleading guilty in the Midland Magistrates Court to 21 charges relating to breaches of hours of work fatigue regulations. The court also ordered the company to pay $9,000 for three charges of breaching record-keeping regulations.
WorkSafe WA filed charges against the company after an investigation revealed that drivers did not have enough time to rest and that the required records did not meet all the legal requirements.
