Victorian government enhances workplace safety through increased funding

The Victorian Government has announced it will allocate $13.7 million in 2026/27 to ensure worker safety, increase workplace injury prevention efforts, and provide improved support for individuals returning to work.
The state Government plans to hire an additional 20 WorkSafe inspectors to focus on five of the riskiest industries for employees: ‘construction, health care and social support, public sector, agriculture, and manufacturing.’
The Government also plans to form a specific division focused on compliance and enforcement within the health care and social assistance sectors.
The budget sets aside $1.4 million to provide support for families who are grieving the loss of a loved one killed in a work-related accident.
