Victoria championing workplace mental health on a national scale
The Allan Labor Government says it is advancing mental health reform across the country with the introduction of a new centre that integrates the efforts of industry, unions, and professionals to enhance the mental health of workplaces.
WorkSafe Victoria will serve as the primary establishment partner for the National Centre for Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing, taking on a crucial role in its establishment and engaging in several key projects in its inaugural year.
The centre will unite various stakeholders, including industry representatives, labour unions, insurance providers, academic researchers, and service organisations, to create practical solutions aimed at fostering mentally healthy work environments and preventing workplace mental injuries.
WorkSafe and TAC Minister Danny Pearson remarked that workplace mental injuries pose a significant challenge throughout Australia, and Victoria is at the forefront by allocating $4.5 million to set up the National Centre for Workplace Mental Health and Wellbeing.
