OHS Daily News

An irrigation company in Gippsland has been charged by WorkSafe following a serious incident in which a worker was injured after being hit by a telehandler at a dairy farm in Yarram in October 2023.

The company is facing two counts in accordance with section 21(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act for its failure to provide and uphold a safe workplace.

WorkSafe accuses the company of “breaching section 21(2)(a) of the OHS Act by failing to provide and maintain a safe system of work and section 21(2)(e) of the OHS Act by failing to provide necessary information, instruction or training to enable employees to work safely.”

A filing hearing for the matter has been arranged at the Sale Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
