Vic farm to front court after fatal workplace incident

WorkSafe Victoria has filed a charge against a farming company after a farmer was fatally crushed by a bulka bag in May 2022.

The charge is based on section 26(1) of the OHS Act, which accuses the company of failing to ensure a safe and healthy workplace that is free from risks to health.

WorkSafe alleges the company did not take appropriate measures to minimise the risk of injury or death to people working beneath suspended bags following the incident

The case is set for a filing hearing at the Ballarat Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
