Strategy to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders launched in Canberra

WorkSafe ACT's strategy to prevent Musculoskeletal Disorders was recently launched to demonstrate its commitment to workplace health and safety.

WorkSafe ACT says Construction, Healthcare, and Retail industries account for more than half of MSD-related workers' compensation claims.

ACT work safety commissioner Jacqueline Agius said these are some of the most important workers in the ACT.

"The workers who are most likely to suffer from a musculoskeletal disorder work in the industries that contribute so much to making the ACT such a great place to live," Ms Agius said.

"Our Strategy aims to educate all workers and employers to prevent these painful and serious conditions. Our target is ambitious but achievable. All workplace injuries are avoidable."

"We look forward to working with these – and all – sectors to make real change to the health and safety of Canberrans."
