Shipping container crush spurs Vic WorkSafe prosecution

stone benchtop business faces charges following the death of a worker at a Campbellfield factory in February 2020.

The company is facing three charges under the Victorian OHS Act for failing to ensure that a workplace was safe and without risks to health.

WorkSafe said the man was helping the company's director unload a shipping container when 30 stone slabs, each weighing about 220 kilograms, fell on him.

The safety regulator alleges it was reasonably practicable for the company to take measures to reduce the risk of the slabs falling during the unloading process.
