SafeWork NSW issues prohibition notice after fatal workplace incident

Work has been suspended at a Newcastle construction site following the death of a worker on Wednesday morning.

A 20-year-old man was crushed to death at about 9am.

SafeWork NSW inspectors issued the prohibition notice on Thursday morning.

The man was pinned underneath a reinforced steel column, according to ABC News.

"SafeWork NSW has placed a non-disturbance notice on the incident site to ensure all evidence is preserved for investigation," the safety watchdog said in a statement.
