Safety blitz for SA transport businesses

SafeWork SA has commenced a campaign focused on transport businesses known for their history of significant work injury claims.
The worksite inspections will reveal any non-compliance issues and help educate businesses on their responsibilities under Work Health & Safety (WHS).
In the upcoming audits set for May and June, SafeWork SA inspectors will address the common WHS risks found in the road transport industry, focusing on noise hazards, manual handling, and psychosocial hazards.
The 20 companies have been alerted about the upcoming audits and are advised to download free resources from SafeWork SA to facilitate their preparation for the inspections.
The 20 businesses identified through ReturnToWorkSA claims and SafeWork SA data have been alerted about the impending audits and urged to download no-cost SafeWork SA resources to facilitate their preparation for the inspections.
During the 2024-25 financial year, the 20 firms selected for audit reported a total of 226 injury claims, resulting in claim payments exceeding $5.17 million.
