Safety alert issued after NT worker falls from forklift

The Northern Territory’s workplace health and safety watchdog has issued a safety alert after a worker fell over three meters from a forklift.

The worker sustained fractured ribs and multiple bruises following the incident in August 2022.

NT WorkSafe said, ‘the alert reminds businesses and workers to only use forklift attachments that have been designed and manufactured in accordance with the Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Regulations 2011.’

To prevent similar incidents, WorkSafe says employers should develop a traffic management plan to deal with tasks involving work boxes. They should also ensure workers are adequately trained on the safe use of work boxes.
