Safe Work Australia seeks public input on the ‘requirements for competent persons for asbestos related tasks’

Safe Work Australia is seeking feedback on the meaning of ‘competent persons for asbestos-related tasks.

The safety agency invites all stakeholders including asbestos consultants, asbestos removalists, workers and construction and demolition companies to share their thoughts.

“Under the model Work Health and Safety Regulations, only a “competent person” with relevant training, qualifications or experience can carry out certain asbestos-related tasks in the workplace,” Safe Work Australia said.

Submissions are open until 1 October 2023.

Additional information is available on the Safe Work Australia website.
