Safe Work Australia releases new guidelines to help enforce the ban on engineered stone

New guidance has been released by Safe Work Australia to provide assistance to persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs) in understanding their obligations concerning work health and safety in relation to the upcoming ban on engineered stone. This ban is scheduled to come into force on 1 July 2024.

According to Safe Work Australia, the guidance offers PCBUs in-depth details on the prohibition.

Safe Work Australia has also made updates to the ‘National Exemption Framework – Guide for those applying for exemptions’ and ‘National guide for working with crystalline silica and products containing crystalline silica’ to incorporate details regarding the engineered stone ban.
