Safe Work Australia releases new guidance on COVID-19 rapid antigen testing

Safe Work Australia has released new guidancefor employers on COVID-19 rapid antigen testing of workers.

A rapid antigen test is a fast and simple test for diagnosing COVID-19.

Although this test will detect most COVID-19 cases, it is not as reliable as the standard (PCR) test. The test is most reliable when used by someone who has COVID 19 symptoms.

Safe Work Australia said, “the information will help employers determine whether a rapid antigen testing program (RAT program) for their workers is a reasonably practicable control measureto manage the risks of COVID-19 at work.”
