Safe Work Australia has launched a new collection of tools to assist employers in identifying, assessing, and controlling the risks related to gender-based violence in the construction sector.

“The resources include practical case studies, posters and infographics designed for use on construction worksites,” Safe Work Australia said.

“Gender based violence is a mental health (psychosocial) hazard that can occur in any workplace. However, certain workplace factors can increase the risk of it occurring if they are not effectively managed.”

The new resources were created by Safe Work Australia in partnership with stakeholders from the construction industry to ensure they address the particular WHS challenges faced by women in this sector.

They aim to highlight the various forms of gender-based violence that can occur on construction sites, the effects of these harmful practices, and the measures that employers are required to implement to mitigate them.
