Rise in electrical shock incidents prompts safety warning for SA residential construction workers

SafeWork SA urges residential construction workers to ensure they keep a safe distance from overhead powerlines following a spike in electrical shock incidents.

The safety watchdog says it has been notified of numerous electrical incidents in recent months. Two electric shock incidents involving apprentices were reported last month, according to SafeWork SA.

SafeWork SA said, "While no serious injuries were sustained in any of the recent incidents, they all had the potential to cause major trauma or death."

"SafeWork SA and the Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR) are reminding builders and contractors in the residential construction sector to ensure workers and plant do not encroach safe clearance distances."
