Queensland worker dies after being struck by machinery

A man was fatally injured after being struck by machinery in Cairns on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a workplace incident in Portsmith just before 3pm.

The man in his 60s was rushed to hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.

Police and workplace safety authorities have launched investigations into the incident.
