NT WorkSafe warns about electrical risks in ceiling spaces

The NT's workplace safety watchdog has issued a safety alert highlighting the risks of working in ceiling spaces after an electrician fell from a roof after suffering an electric shock in Darwin.

NT WorkSafe Acting Executive Director Anthony Waite reminds electrical workers to always disconnect the power supply before commencing work to reduce the risk of electric shock.

“Electrical workers should always lock-out and tag-out to prevent accidental re-energisation, and always test before you touch,” said Mr Waite.

Mr Waite urged electrical workers to make safety a priority in the lead up to Christmas.

“Regardless of what work you do, follow your safe work procedures, don’t cut corners so you can have a safe and happy Christmas.”
