NT WorkSafe encourages Territorians to familiarise themselves with the newly implemented electrical safety regulations during Electrical Safety Week

OHS Daily News

Electrical Safety Week begins this week to encourage safe use of electricity in both homes and workplaces.

NT WorkSafe is offering free webinars over a two-week period this year to educate the public on the new electrical safety laws that have been introduced in the Territory.

The legislation brings in a fresh licensing system for electricians and workers, with NT WorkSafe now responsible for issuing electrical licenses.

NT WorkSafe Executive Director Peggy Cheong, and the Electricity Safety Regulator, said the new legislation aims to ensure the safety of Territorians against electrical hazards and avoid damage to properties.

“There is a webinar specific for homeowners and members of the community on how the electrical safety laws are designed to keep you safe,” Ms Cheong said.
