NT WorkSafe names new Executive Director

NT WorkSafe has appointed Ms Peggy Cheong as its new executive director, following a rigorous selection process. Ms Cheong has lived in Darwin since 1988 and has worked across various government departments in the Northern Territory throughout her career.

Before joining the Northern Territory workplace health and safety regulator, she served as Deputy Chair of the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Advisory Committee, gaining firsthand insight into workers compensation matters affecting the territory.

Extensive Background in Territory Legal Sector

NT WorkSafe said Ms Cheong "brings with her decades of substantial experience in the Northern Territory legal sector, particularly in areas related to occupational work health and safety, workers compensation, and employment law."

This depth of legal knowledge positions her well to guide NT WorkSafe's ongoing efforts to strengthen workplace safety outcomes across the territory. Ms Cheong has been serving in a temporary capacity since June, providing continuity during the transition.
