NSW Seeks Stakeholder Feedback on 'Towards Healthy Work Plan'

The NSW Government wants public submissions on SafeWork NSW's new plan aimed at enhancing workplace health and safety across the state. NSW seeks stakeholder feedback on 'Towards Healthy Work Plan' ahead of a planned rollout late next year, giving employers and workers a direct opportunity to shape future safety standards.

Why SafeWork NSW Wants Your Input

Head of SafeWork NSW Natasha Mann said the Government wants to hear from relevant stakeholders, including employers and workers, before launching the Towards Healthy Work Plan.

"Prevention of workplace incidents has mainly focused on identifying physical hazards in the workplace, but research shows health and safety can be improved further when work is designed to be physically and psychologically healthy and workers are engaged in the way work is done," Ms Mann said.

"SafeWork NSW is encouraging the business community to review our principles of 'Healthy Work' and to contribute ideas, stories and examples of work practices that are healthy."

What the Healthy Work Plan Covers

Below is a summary of what SafeWork NSW is asking stakeholders to consider when preparing submissions:

• How healthy work principles can support both physical and psychosocial safety outcomes
• Ways workplaces can build environmental and psychosocial care into daily operations
• Examples of healthy work services and support programs already in use across various sectors
• Feedback on existing safety standards and how they align with proposed healthy work goals

Submissions close at 5pm on Tuesday, 31 January 2023. Stakeholders across Australia are encouraged to provide input, particularly those involved in workplace health services, environmental safety planning, and employee care initiatives.
