Employers and self-employed persons, with management or control of a workplace in the Northern Territory are required to notify the state’s workplace health and safety regulator of a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 in the workplace.

NT WorkSafe said notification is required when a worker dies from COVID-19, and the infection arises out of the conduct of the business or undertaking. Businesses will also be required to notify the safety watchdog when a worker is hospitalised with COVID-19, and the infection arises out of the conduct of the business or undertaking.

Businesses are required to notify the regulator regardless of whether the case has been reported to the NT Department of Health.
