New law requires employers to report sexual assault cases to WorkSafe ACT

A new law requiring employers in the ACT to report sexual assault incidents to WorkSafe ACT is now in effect.

WorkSafe says ‘from 9 June 2023, all workplace sexual assault incidents are notifiable and must be reported’ to the safety agency.

Under the new regulations, employers must notify WorkSafe ACT of all sexual assault incidents that occur in the workplace.

“If the notifiable incident is a result of more than one business or undertaking, then all businesses must notify WorkSafe ACT,” the safety regulator said in a statement.
