New campaign urges Victorians to show respect towards workers

The Victorian Government has unveiled a new advertising campaign focused on combating occupational violence and aggression against workers across the state.

The new WorkSafe Victoria campaign, titled "Don't Cross the Line," urges ordinary Victorians to reflect on the impact of verbal abuse, such as yelling and swearing, that employees may face in their daily jobs. The initiative encourages every community member to demonstrate respect for those performing essential roles, from healthcare staff to retail teams.

This campaign will be broadcasted on television and radio, shared on social media, published in print, and presented in workplaces, highlighting the overall toll these aggressive behaviours take on Victorian workers.

Why WorkSafe Victoria Launched This Initiative

Commenting on the initiative, Deputy Premier and Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC, Ben Carroll, remarked, "There is never a place for aggressive or violent behaviour and this campaign is asking Victorians a very simple thing – to treat workers with the respect they deserve."

WorkSafe Victoria hopes "Don't Cross the Line" will prompt Victorians to consider how their words and actions affect people simply doing their jobs, whether behind a counter, on a construction site, or delivering care.
