New campaign reminds NT electrical workers to make safety a priority

A new campaign urging electrical workers in the NT to ensure power is disconnected before starting work has been launched.

The campaign christened ‘Survive, don’t work live’ is a joint initiative of NT WorkSafe, Power and Water, and the Electrical Trades Union.

The campaign targeting electrical workers and apprentices was launched following an increase in the number of electrical incidents over the past few years.

Electrical Trades Union NT Organiser, Dave ‘Strawbs’ Hayes said electrical workers should make electrical safety a top priority, adding that the campaign aims to remind workers about the importance of disconnecting power.

“Everyone should return home safely after a day at work,” he said.
