New animated video aims to inspire Queensland resources sector to report high potential incidents

A new animated video illustrates the importance of reporting incidents for the safety of resource workers in Queensland.

Resources Safety and Health Queensland says the animation not only defines high potential incidents, but also emphasises the importance of reporting them promptly.

“A high potential incident (HPI) is a near-miss incident that could have ended in someone getting seriously hurt or killed, but for some reason that was avoided,” RSHQ said.

“HPIs are a great opportunity to learn and improve safety practices, and that's why Queensland's mining and quarrying operators are legally required to report serious incidents and high potential incidents to RSHQ.”

RSHQ states that it communicates lessons learned from those incidents through safety notices published on its website.
