Fatal crane incident under investigation by WorkSafe

An investigation has been commenced by WorkSafe into the incident that took place at a construction site in Berwick resulting in a fatality.

Reports indicate that a 28-year-old truck driver was hit and crushed by the boom of a truck-mounted crane while working alone to unload timber products around 2pm on Friday.

This incident brings the total number of confirmed workplace deaths in Victoria for 2024 to eight. Comparatively, at the same time last year, there were 13 workplace fatalities recorded.
