Company faces charges after crane topples at Parkville worksite

WorkSafe has filed charges against a crane company for breaching the Victorian OHS Act after a mobile crane collapsed at a Parkville construction site in July 2021.

Victoria’s workplace health and safety watchdog accuses the company of failing to provide a safe working environment contrary to section 26(1) of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

“The charges relate to the collapse of a mobile crane supplied by the company after pendant ropes used to manipulate an attached luffing jib failed during a lift,” WorkSafe Victoria said.

A filing hearing will take place at Melbourne Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
