Agriculture leading in workplace fatalities in New Zealand

Twenty-three people have been killed in workplace agricultural incidents so far this year, according to the latest WorkSafe data.

The figures show Agriculture is one of the most dangerous industries in New Zealand, with six fatalities so far this year. Three of the fatalities were due to quad bike incidents.

Transport and construction accounted for more than a third of the fatalities, with four cases each.

Arts and Recreation services reported three fatalities, Forestry and logging- two fatalities and Manufacturing – one fatality.
