Tasmania reforms quad bike laws to reduce risks

The Tasmanian Government has amended the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2012 to improve quad bike safety. The regulations have been amended to impose a duty on a person conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) with management or control of a quad bike to provide a rider with a helmet, require that helmets be worn on quad bikes at all times; and require quad bike users to undergo training.

The changes support other efforts to improve quad bike safety including promoting quad bike safety messages, through the media and relevant farming bodies and the Australian Government's mandatory safety standard for quad bikes.
