WorkSafe WA publishes annual work-related fatalities report

WorkSafe Western Australia has released traumatic work-related fatalities data for 2011-12 to 2020-21.

The ’Work-related traumatic injury fatalities in Western Australia 2011-12 to 2020-21’ report analyses data on work-related fatalities in Western Australia during the ten-year period.

The report shows there were 170 work-related deaths in Western Australia during this period.

According to the report, during the year 2020–21, 17 people were fatally injured at work in Western Australia, with workers aged 65 and over accounting for 16 per cent of the fatalities.

The report indicates that during (2011-12 to 2020-21) the majority of fatalities occurred in Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishing (43 fatalities), Construction (27 fatalities), and Mining (23 fatalities). The three industries accounted for 54 percent of work-related fatalities.
