WorkSafe stats shows 23 New Zealand workers killed on the job this year

Latest WorkSafe statistics show 23 New Zealand workers have died on the job since the beginning of this year.

Agriculture and construction have recorded the highest number of occupational deaths, with 5 fatalities each.

Transport, postal and warehousing industry has seen three fatalities.

WorkSafe New Zealand says the latest figures provide preliminary information and are based on initial notifications to the safety agency. The safety regulator promises to release more information after investigating the fatal incidents.
