WorkSafe probes road worker death

WorkSafe has confirmed it has opened an investigation into the death of a 58-year-old road worker who was fatally struck by a vehicle on Wednesday morning.

WorkSafe said the man’s ute was hit by a car on a Melbourne freeway just after midnight.

The death brings Victoria’s workplace fatality toll to 41 for 2023, eight fewer than at the same time last year.
