WorkSafe probes fatal incident involving recycling truck

WorkSafe is conducting an investigation into the fatality of a truckie who was collecting documents for safe disposal in Pakenham on Friday.

It is reported that the 28-year-old individual was trying to clear a bin when he got caught in a lifting device and was subsequently crushed within the rear compartment of the truck around 10am.

This fatality marks the 44th verified workplace death of 2024, according to WorkSafe Victoria statistics. In comparison, there were 71 workplace fatalities recorded during the same period last year.
