WorkSafe plans to file charges against the justice department following allegations of sexual harassment and bullying at a Bunbury prison

OHS Daily News

WorkSafe WA intends to file a lawsuit against the operators of a local prison, alleging that they failed to establish appropriate protocols for handling allegations of sexual harassment and bullying.

The department in charge of a local prison has been accused of neglecting its duty to ensure a safe working environment, a failure that WorkSafe claims resulted in significant injury to a female prison officer.

According to WorkSafe, the prison failed to implement procedures to manage inappropriate conduct such as bullying and sexual harassment.

The hearing is set to take place at the Bunbury Magistrates Court in November.
