WorkSafe NZ opens investigation after worker suffers serious injuries in electrical incident

WorkSafe has launched an investigation after a worker was seriously injured while attending to an electrical fault in Wainaka.

A spokeswoman said St John was called to an electrical incident on 9 February at 10.15 am.

The man was flown to Dunedin Hospital for treatment.

New Zealand Government figures showed in 2019, a total of 238,100 work-related injury claims were made to the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) or ACC-accredited employers (down about 1,800 from 2018).

Trade workers had the highest work-related injury claims, with 41,500 claims.
